Tourism are the activities of persons travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than
one consecutive year for leisure, business or other purposes.
Tourism may be classified into the following types:
· Inbound international tourism: Visits to a country by nonresident of that country
· Outbound international tourism: Visits by the residents of a country to another country
· Internal tourism: Visits by residents of a country to their own
· Domestic tourism: Inbound international tourism + internal tourism
· National tourism: Internal tourists + outbound international tourism
Agro tourism is farm based tourism, helping to support the local agricultural economy.
Eco-agro tourism is the same as Agro tourism but on organic farms or farms in transition
Eco tourism refers to a segment within the tourism sector. It fosters respect towards the environment, reflects sustainable
business practices, creates socio-economic benefits for communities/regions, and recognizes and respects local and
indigenous cultures, traditions and values.
Nature tourism is a segment of tourism that offers experiences that enable visitors to discover natural areas and to understand through interpretation and education, the natural and cultural sense of place.
Sustainable tourism is is envisaged as leading to management of all resources in such a way that economic, social and
aesthetic needs can be fulfilled while maintaining cultural integrity, essential ecological processes, biological diversity and life
Heritage tourism is visiting historical (Athens, Cracow) or industrial sites, such as old canals, railways, battlegrounds, etc.
Wellness tourism is the sum of all the relationships and phenomena resulting from a journey and residence by people whose main motivation is to preserve or promote their health. They stay in a specialized hotel which provides the appropriate professional know-how and individual care. They require a comprehensive service package comprising physical fitness/beauty care, healthy nutrition/diet, relaxation/meditation and mental activity/education.
